Visit Isle of Wight Board of Directors update
The results of the recent election for Directors to the Board of Visit Isle of Wight are in.
The 1248 current Wight BID levying paying organisations were notified in writing for the opportunity to put forward a candidate, and to vote in the subsequent election.
A total of 24 candidates were put forward for 12 positions on the Board of Directors of the Island’s destination marketing organisation and voting took place between 20th and 31st October for the board.
Each Wight BID levy paying business could vote for up to 12 candidates, and in the end there were 208 submissions to vote, with 1463 validated votes.
The results were independently verified by the regional tourism body Tourism South East, who were granted full access to the completed voting information, and have declared the results to be accurate.
Subject to the completion of Director consent forms and for membership forms for those businesses who are not Members of Visit Isle of Wight (a requirement for eligibility for a role as a Director), the appointments to the Board will be confirmed at a General Meeting of Members on 14th November.
The 12 names being put forward for confirmation are:
Lawrence Bates – Wildheart Animal Sanctuary
Laura Baxter – The Orchards Holiday Park
Matthew Brooks – The Royal Hotel
Derek Curtis – Amazon World
Claire Davies – Parkdean Resorts
Edward Day – Monkey Madness
David Holmes – Garlic Festival Ltd
Marc Morgan-Huws – Isle of Wight Steam Railway
Lee Priddle – Robin Hill Partnership Ltd
Nick Spyker – Sandringham Hotel
Steven Wells – Luccombe Hall Hotel
Dominic Wray – Blackgang Chine
Will Myles, MD of Visit Isle of Wight said:
“I thank everyone who stood for election, those who cast their votes, and I congratulate the 12 people who have gained the majority of votes.
“I am looking forward to the final process of confirmation at the General Members Meeting on 14th November, so that we can move forward with the new Board of Directors and continue the work of Visit Isle of Wight, marketing our wonderful Island in what is an increasingly difficult climate for tourism nationally and globally.”
