Who we are

We are Visit Isle of Wight LTD, a not for profit company, dedicated to showcasing the Isle of Wight to the UK mainland and overseas audiences. We work in partnership with Visit England, Visit Britain, Tourism South East and other tourism bodies to promote our stunning beaches & countryside, attractions & activities, accommodation, inns, cafes and restaurants, and rich cultural heritage.

Our organisation consists of over 1,200 companies, including the ferry operators, hovertravel, the local bus company, rail operator and tourism providers working together to collectively promote our destination. We generate our income from the WIGHT BID levy fund that our industry providers contribute towards, and other commercial sales and other marketing services.

We are the Destination Management Organisation for the Isle of Wight, a public and private sector partnership led by the private sector. Our top ranking website (www.visitisleofwight.co.uk) receives over 2.4million visitors a year. Our Industry website (www.visitwightpro.com) is used by tourism providers on the Island to share news, resources and campaign information.

The Island welcomes over 2.7million visitors a year, mainly from the UK mainland (93%). Our visitors and tourism operators contribute over half a billion a year to the Island’s economy, making tourism the largest economic sector on the Isle of Wight.

We regularly team up with movie distributors, affinity brands and media partners. Recent partnerships have included Universal Pictures (Victoria & Abdul), Paramount (Transformers), Twentieth Century Fox (Walking with Dinosaurs), Liz Earl Cosmetics, Enterprise Rent-A-Car and gardening brand Fiskas. If you are interested in partnering with the Isle of Wight contact david@visitwight.org

Our aim is to attract tens of thousands of new visitors to the Island every year, and grow our regular repeating visitor numbers to over 3 million visits a year by 2021, attracting an annual tourism spend up to over £600 million a year by 2021.

We do this by running advertising campaigns, media events, press launches, affinity promotions, a widespread digital network of social media channels and partner collaborations, attending exhibitions, supporting and developing new festivals & events, developing trade relations, creating new reasons to visit and products for visitors to enjoy, and working closely with our industry to maximise our collective opportunities to attract more customers in the future.
