Visit Isle of Wight Appoints Dominic Wray as Chief Executive
Visit Isle of Wight has announced the appointment of Dominic Wray as its new Chief Executive, marking a renewed focus on collaboration with local businesses and the continued growth of the Island’s visitor economy.
Dominic brings more than a decade of leadership experience in the tourism sector, having successfully led Blackgang Chine, one of the Island’s most iconic attractions, for the past 10 years. During this time, he developed strong relationships with partners both locally and nationally while gaining first-hand insight into the opportunities and challenges facing tourism businesses.
Dominic Wray said:
“Having worked within the Island’s tourism sector for many years, I understand both the opportunities ahead and the pressures businesses are facing, from rising costs to evolving visitor expectations.
“My priority is to ensure Visit Isle of Wight works in closer partnership with levy-paying businesses, providing clear value, stronger representation and practical support. We are entering a new phase focused on transparency, engagement and delivering measurable results for the Island’s visitor economy.”
Alongside Dominic’s appointment, Steve Wells of Luccombe Hotels has been named Vice-Chair of Visit Isle of Wight. He will work with the recently elected Board to strengthen governance, enhance accountability and support the organisation’s strategic direction.
Steve Wells said:
“As newly appointed Vice Chair I will be supporting Dominic, his team and the Board at Visit Isle of Wight through this period of change. There will be focus on clearer communication and engagement with levy payers as we work together towards delivering a successful Bid.
“There will be stronger representation, more collaboration and effective promotion of the Island whilst at the same time delivering real value to levy payers. I look forward to meeting Levy payers face to face to discuss their concerns and aspirations for what they want to see from their Destination Management Organisation.”
Under the new leadership, Visit Isle of Wight will place greater emphasis on direct engagement with businesses through sector-specific forums, closer industry collaboration and targeted promotion of the Island as an all-season destination. The organisation will also strengthen its advocacy role, ensuring levy-paying businesses are effectively represented in discussions with key partners, stakeholders and the Isle of Wight Council.
