1. Organisation structure for the next BID term
The Board considered the shape of the organisation for the next BID term. Reflecting Visit Isle of Wight’s evolution into a destination marketing organisation – whose core purpose is to market and sell the Island to visitors – the Board agreed the direction for a marketing-led structure, built around a senior marketing role supported by a marketing team, with specialist functions such as PR and social media delivered through outsourced partners.
The Board was satisfied that the proposed structure sits within the planned BID budget and supports the delivery of the BID3 business plan and its strategic pillars.
2. Leadership and transition
The Board noted that the organisation will move into its next phase following the ballot, and agreed to begin recruitment for the senior marketing role, with appropriate continuity arrangements in place so that marketing activity continues without interruption. The Board recorded its thanks for the leadership that has stabilised and repositioned the organisation over the past year.
3. Governance and Articles review
The Board agreed that a review of its governance arrangements and Articles of Association should be undertaken as part of the next BID term, following the ballot, to ensure they remain fit for purpose. More of the organisation’s detailed delivery will sit with its committees (including the finance committee and the strategic marketing group), keeping the Board focused on strategic direction.
4. Next steps
The Board’s focus remains on delivering a successful BID3 ballot in October.
Recruitment for the senior marketing role to begin, subject to a successful ballot, with continuity arrangements in place.
Governance and Articles review to follow the ballot.
