Tourism businesses on the Isle of Wight have an opportunity to shape the future of the Island as a holiday destination.
Visit Isle of Wight, the independent, not-for-profit organisation responsible for marketing the Island, is looking for nominees to stand at an election to appoint new directors to its Board.
These directors will actively make decisions that will support tourism on the Island, that will drive and develop its appeal and increase visitor numbers.
The visitor sector on the Isle of Wight delivers 38% of its overall economy, making it one of the largest economic drivers for our Island, almost £500million of impact.
VIOW Managing Director Will Myles said:
“This is an opportunity for tourism businesses to influence the way their Island is marketed. We create and deliver marketing campaigns to promote the island and all it has to offer – a unique, accessible and stunning destination for day visitors and holidaymakers on the mainland and internationally.
“We would encourage as many nominations as possible to ensure the Island’s tourism businesses have a voice.”
The Board is made up of strategic partners such as the council, ferries and other transport operators, as well as invested representatives from the tourism sector – BID levy payers.
VIOW is looking for up to 12 elected BID levy payers to the Board for the next three years.
Nominations are now open and will close at midday on Friday, October 3. Online voting will begin on Monday, October 20, closing at midday on Friday, October 31.
The successful nominees will be announced during week commencing November 10.
