World-renowned chef to create menu for Ryde restaurant

Heron, Ryde, Isle of WightWe are delighted to announce that renowned Chef Michel Roux Jr. will be creating an entire, bespoke, speciality menu for guests to enjoy on the 24th and 25th of February, offering an exciting opportunity to taste the cuisine of one of the UK’s most respected chefs right here in the Isle of Wight.

Tables on 23rd February with Chef Michel have now sold out but due to popular demand, Chef Alex Kimber will continue to serve the menu exclusively on the 24th and 25th February, extending the opportunity to sample some of the finest gastronomic fare. Whilst Chef Michel will not be in attendance on 24th and 25th, guests will still get the chance to try the menu designed by Chef himself.

Chef Alex Kimber says, “It is an excellent opportunity to have Chef Michel Roux Jr and his team visit us here at Heron, and the Isle of Wight where we can showcase all that Ryde and the Isle of Wight have to offer.  

Chef Michel Roux Jr has been leading the culinary scene in the UK for many years and I have always looked upon the Roux’s as leaders in the culinary world. I personally have been greatly influenced by his passion, style of cuisine, and service.   

In January, our Head Waitress, Lucy, had the honour of being invited on a learning programme at the 2 Michelin-starred Le Gavroche to work under the wings of the Roux family, where she has learned from a team who are internationally recognised for their culinary excellence and unparalleled attention to detail.

Legendary chef Michel Roux Jr is an icon of the UK culinary scene. He currently operates the two Michelin-starred Le Gavroche in Mayfair, London, which is recognised as one of the titans of the industry, having been the very first restaurant in the UK to be awarded a Michelin star when it opened in 1967. He also co-founded Chez Roux with his late father, Albert Roux OBE.
