The most recent Visit England Consumer Tracker shows that people are looking forward to rural and coastal visits over city breaks.

The research, from 4-10 November 2021, sees small towns also showing as a strong contender for places to take an overnight stay.

This sentiment is echeod when asked their intention of destination by day trip, with 1 in 10 adults planning to take a day trip to a rural or coastal location in the next month.

Travelling by car and by train is seen as the preferred mode of transport, over plane and private taxi.
