Isle of Wight represented at Dutch Holiday Exhibition

A targeted approach to tourism exhibitions has been hailed a success following a short visit to one of the largest of it’s kind in the Benelux region.

Vakantiebeurs (literally translates as Holiday Show) is attended by tens of thousands of businesses and visitors looking for inspiration, in the Dutch town of Utrecht each year.

Visit Isle of Wight MD Will Myles and marketing manager Rachel Hardiman from the Needles Landmark attraction made a flying visit to the event to showcase the Island this week (9th Jan).

Will explained that by concentrating efforts to one day is more cost effective and would specifically reach tour operators and key influencers, in a bid to keep costs down when attending exhibitions of this kind.

‘We were able to re-established some old trade contacts, met some new people and will be developing these relationships of the coming months to enable us to welcome more visitors from the Benelux region.

This reflects one of our key overseas markets for 2019 and beyond.’

Dutch tour operator, House of Britain, has produced an Isle of Wight specific brochure for the Vakantiebeurs exhibition, which will now be taken to other exhibitions, ensuring the Isle of Wight has a presence over the coming months.
