We’re Going On An Isle of Wight Bear Hunt – for the last time!
Following a successful summer of ‘Isle of Wight Bear Hunt Adventure Weekends’ across the Island, the popular family favourites are making their last official journey.
The Youth Zone at the Isle of Wight Literary Festival launches on Saturday (20th Oct) and the characters from “We’re Going On A Bear Hunt’, will be heading to Cowes for their last appearance.
The beautifully drawn characters, as seen on Channel 4, and based on the best-selling original children’s picture book, are set to provide a talking piece at this year’s Youth Zone, as the National Trust organize a final Bear Hunt Adventure in the grounds of Northwood House for young children and families.

“This very special book and film mean a lot to many readers. The Bear Hunt Adventure organised by the National Trust will be lots of fun. These inspiring outdoor activities will be a great opportunity to explore the stunning grounds of Northwood House and are a great companion to the host of other activities we have going on at the Youth Zone.”
Helen Oxenbury, illustrator of the best-selling, award winning children’s book ‘We’re Going a Beat Hunt’ will be appearing at the Youth Zone at the Isle of Wight Literary Festival on Saturday between 6pm and 7pm to talk about her work with best selling author and long-time friend and author of ‘The Queen’s Knickers’, Nicholas Allen.
There will be special showings of the Lupus Films/Walker Books animated feature, ‘We’re Going On A Bear Hunt’ at different times over the weekend. Joanna Harrison, co-director of We’re Going on a Bear Hunt, will be introducing the film and talking about what it’s like to be the director of an animated film on Saturday afternoon.
Abi Fox, Brand Manager at Visit Isle of Wight said she is going to miss the characters from the book:
“It will be a tearful farewell as we say goodbye to Stan, Katie, Rosie, Max, the baby, Rufus the dog – and of course the bear – but it’s been great working with Walker Books and Lupus Films to bring the characters to the Isle of Wight and give pleasure to so many young children and families who have visited the Island this summer.”
