Want To Be A Leader for Isle of Wight Walking Festival 2018?
The Isle of Wight Walking Festival will take place from the 28th April to the 13th May 2018. Organisers are now looking for walk leaders to register their walks with Visit Isle of Wight.
Remember your walk doesn’t have to be free. You can charge the walking guests for the experience and operate your own commercial walks as part of the festival. If you decide to run a walk for free, then you’ll be covered by the Festival’s liability insurance, otherwise you would make your own insurance arrangements in the normal way.
Visit Isle of Wight will be investing in a marketing campaign to advertise the walking festival off Island from this December, so the sooner we have a good list of walks, the quicker we will be able to begin promoting the event to prospective mainland visitors.
It’s an important event for the early part of the holiday season. The wide variety of walks put on by volunteer walk leaders makes the Isle of Wight Walking festival an important and distinctive part of the Isle of Wight’s event calendar and the UK’s national walking scene.
Visit Isle of Wight would like to encourage new walk leaders to take part, as well as those who have contributed in previous years. Whether you have a special interest in a particular subject or know a hidden part of the Island you would like to share with others, Visit Isle of Wight would love to hear from you.
In 2017 Visit Isle of Wight produced two new trail guides – The Victoria’s Island Trail (www.visitisleofwight.co.uk/victorias-island-trail ) and The Isle of Wight Literary Heroes Trail( https://www.visitisleofwight.co.uk/inspiration/literary-heroes-trail ). We would particularly welcome walks that touch on some of the places, characters or connections within these trails.
