Applications for Event Marketing Fund now open

Visit Isle of Wight is now calling for organisations and companies on the Isle of Wight who wish to apply for funding support towards marketing an event or festival in 2018 to come forward and make an application to the Wight BID Events Panel.

In 2017 the Events panel awarded funds to brand new events aimed at attracting visitors to the Island, including IWPride, The Festival of Running, Isle Walk and the Ventnor International Festival.

The recipients of 2016/17 Wight BID attracter event funding support were:

West Wight Sports Centre: Festival of Running (New)
The Yarmouth Old Gaffers Festival
Ventnor International Festival (New)
IsleWalk17 – The Isle of Wight Walking Festival
IWPride (New)
Isle of Wight ComicCon (New)
VDub Carry on Camping promotion (New)
Jack up the 80’s mainland radio advertising

Events and Festivals must be capable of growing to attract at least 1000 mainland or overseas visitors to be considered for funding, and money can only be allocated to the off-Island marketing of events. Priority consideration will also be given to events that are proposed for outside the main season.

Existing events can also apply for funding providing that the proposal centres around extending the length of stay. For example, in 2017 the VDUB festival received marketing support for their “carry on camping” campaign, which was designed to encourage festival goers to stay longer on the Island, enjoying a holiday as well as the festival itself.

To apply for funding please follow THIS LINK and download the application form. As funds are limited, and allocated on a first come first served basis, early applications are encouraged.

The Events panel will confirm the first allocation of funds in December 2017, and detail of who has received funding will be posted on this website. For further information please contact david@visitwight.org CEO of Visit Isle of Wight.
