Medina Coastal Community

We would like your thoughts!

The Department for Communities and Local Government have awarded a grant to the Isle of Wight to establish a Coastal Community Team for the Medina Estuary, stretching from the beaches of Cowes and East Cowes to the quay and town centre in Newport. As its focus the Medina Estuary Coastal Community will focus on ways to improve and enhance the visitor economy of the area and will be producing an economic plan by March 2017.

The Coastal Community Team has representatives from Natural Enterprise, IW Chamber of Commerce, Quay Arts, Medina Valley Centre, IW College, IW Estuaries Partnership, Visit Isle of Wight and the Isle of Wight Council. Natural Enterprise are the host organization and are coordinating the development of the plan.

The team are keen to hear from local residents, businesses and other organizations who may have an interest in this, or who wish to express opinions on how the direction this should take, and as a result have produced on-line questionnaires to be completed (see links below).

Coastal Community Teams

The Great British Coast has enormous economic potential and the government is determined to see it thrive all year round.

That’s why we’ve funded Coastal Community Teams across the country to take control of their own area’s regeneration and drive forward future growth, jobs and prosperity

And by 2020 we will have invested over £210million in seaside areas through a dedicated Coastal Communities Fund.
