Quarter 1 IOW visitor research published today

Tourism South East, the economic development agency for the South East of England have today published the Isle of Wight visitor monitor for quarter 1 2016 (Jan 1st to March 31st). The first quarter includes the first week of Easter. In 2016 the Easter holidays were spread over three weeks, consequently the second and third week visitor volume will be included in Quarter 2 research (April 1st – June 30th).

Key findings within the report:

  • Visitors to the Isle of Wight were up 7% compared with the same time last year
  • Visitor spend was up 32% compared with the same time last year
  • Overnight stays were up 5% compared with the same time last year
  • Day trips were up 11% compared with the same time last year
  • First time visitors were up 10% compared with the previous 12 month period
  • Visits to attractions were up 8% compared with the same time last year
