Marketing Opportunity – Camping and Caravan Guide
“The Isle of Wight Pocket Book of Camping Secrets”
At this year’s Tourism Conference, Visit Isle of Wight announced its intention to promote the Isle of Wight as the UK’s ‘Capital of Camping’ over the next few years.
The camping and caravan sector is of enormous importance to the Island’s overall tourism economy, and we want to increase our Island share of the UK market by promoting our camping, glamping, holiday parks and wild camping sites to families and couples who currently don’t choose the Isle of Wight for their outdoor adventure holidays.
One of our first initiatives is to produce a dedicated caravan and camping guide, something that will intrigue and engage our audience and that has some real personality, competitions and offers to encourage new visits in 2016 and beyond.
The printed guide will be in a ‘pocket guide’ format with an initial print run of 6000 copies and aims to launch in late April. Distribution will be through individual requests generated through Visit Isle of Wight’s advertising campaigns, camping stores and other retail outlets in the Midlands and the North of England, selected mainland Tourist Information Centres and featured at a selection of exhibitions that Visit Isle of Wight and our travel ambassadors will be attending between April 2016 and March 2017.
This guide will be a significant part of our online marketing this year and a dedicated part of www.visitisleofwight.co.uk will be developed and extended to promote far more caravan and camping content, including a digital version of this new “Camping Secrets” guide.
Visit IW has teamed up with publishing partner Solent to work with Island businesses in the sectors to deliver these exciting new initiatives. Advertising starts at just £149 and Solent’s James Rolfe will be contacting parks to ensure that nobody misses out on this great marketing opportunity.
