Outdoor Writers Guild hunts for 50 rooms, can you help?

Outdoor Writers & Photographers Guild AGM – Accommodation Required Autumn 2016

Each year the OWPG (Outdoor Writers and Photographers Guild) holds an AGM weekend (Friday-Sunday), usually towards the end of the year.  This year they are looking to hold the AGM on the Island and have asked Visit Isle of Wight for assistance in finding suitable accommodation, local sightseeing opportunities etc. There would also be an awards evening which could be hosted by the accommodation venue or a nearby restaurant.

Numbers-wise, they would be looking at around 50 people visiting, all of whom are established outdoors photographers/writers/journalists/film makers etc.  Venues in the past have ranged from hotels to a residential hostel with outdoor facilities.  Not everyone will stay at the prime location, making their own arrangements for bed and breakfast or camping.

They don’t have a fixed date and look for an off-peak time in autumn – September has the advantage of better chances with the weather and longer hours of daylight, important for an outdoor focus to the event.   But they have gone as late as the first week in November so it’s an area that’s open to discussion.   The Guild doesn’t have a budget for the event and is looking at keeping costs to their members at a minimum.

If you are able to help please contact sue@visitwight.org to discuss what you could offer and the rates you would looking for.
