PRESS UPDATE – 23 SEPTEMBER 2015

This week’s press update includes information about the advantages of hosting media familiarisation trips as well as the coverage that has been received over the past few weeks:

Using media familiarisation trips to sell your hotel, event, attraction, restaurant…..

One of the most cost-effective ways of promoting your product offering is by hosting media familiarisation trips. The media we work with are carefully selected to compliment the objectives of the DMO, to fit market profiles and have a track record of destination writing.

While press releases and story ideas are useful for journalists, if they are assigned a travel feature the will likely plan a visit, thus providing you with a brilliant opportunity to provide the journalist with more in depth information to write about.

When we organise a press trip, the itinerary and programme is carefully crafted in co-operation with our private sector partners to ensure the trip is really worthwhile, and while there are no guarantees when the coverage will appear, or what is written, the editorial format continues to carry more credibility as travel writing is a first-person account that is designed to influence.

So if you want to shine a light on your business and haven’t yet participated in a VIOW media trip, please contact us and let us know you are amenable to hosting: sue@visitwight.org

So far this year, we have hosted 53 national, international and regional journalists and the pay-off for the businesses who work with us is self-evident, click on the below headings to view the coverage:
