This photograph shows a group of Belgian journalists who recently visited the Isle of Wight for a whistle-stop tour of Osborne, including the Swiss Cottage and the private beach. The Island formed part of an itinerary put together by Tourism South East, who have been working with Southampton airport to attract even more visitors to experience the South of England.
Southampton Airport and Belgian operator VLM Airlines have recently launched daily scheduled flights each weekday between Southampton (England) and Antwerp (Belgium). The new route should not only increase the number of leisure tourists to the South of England but also business travellers. Antwerp is the most populous city in Belgium, home to the second largest port in Europe and is known as a ‘petrochemical hub’, with several multinational companies investing more into their sites there.
Arthur White, CEO of VLM Airlines said : “The addition of the new Southampton-Antwerp-Hamburg route is in response to demand from the local communities. All three destinations are respected international seaport cities as well as popular tourist hotspots so we’re very confident the route will prove successful.”
