LATEST NEWS FROM THE PRESS OFFICE – 19.08.2014

On Saturday August 16th, the Island was featured in The Times newspaper following a press trip arranged by Visit Isle of Wight for the journalist, Christopher Somerville. ‘A good walk – Bembridge Down, Isle of Wight’ covered 2/3 of a page in the paper, and carries and estimated publicity value of £54,390.

Gillian Thornton, a freelance journalist for People’s Friend magazine will be visiting the Island next week to gather research for a full travel feature. The magazine has a circulation of 250,000 and a readership of over 1 million. Gillian also writes for magazines such as Woman’s Weekly.

Matt Kendrick, a journalist for the Birmingham Evening Mail, is visiting the Island this week to write a family centred holiday review. He and his family are staying at Appuldurcombe Gardens and visiting a variety of the Island’s family friendly attractions, including IW Steam Railway, Blackgang Chine, Osborne and The Needles Park.

The press team are currently organising a press trip which came to the office via VisitBritain. French journalist, Jerome Blin, writes for Pleine Vie magazine and is in the U.K. gathering information for a travel feature on Southeast England. The feature also includes Leeds, Canterbury, Tunbridge Wells, Eastbourne, Brighton, Winchester, Salisbury and has a distribution of 900,000.

VIOW’s Press Office have been assisting a TV production company shooting a Porsche 911 for a brand new series of “The Classic Car Show” presented by Quentin Willson & Jodie Kidd. We have helped in sourcing accommodation and finding the very best locations to shoot the programme which will be aired next year – watch this space!
